PORQUE LA PERDÍ, 2008

Video-dance documentary.

Porque la perdí (Because I Lost It) explores the collective memory of Gavín—a village in the Aragonese Pyrenees—and its vanished way of life. The project gathers valuable firsthand accounts from local residents, serving as the basis for on-site interventions by videographers and dancers using improvisation techniques to create a site-specific documentary piece combining video and movement.

The aim is to reclaim lost memories and use art to reflect on themes inherent to the landscape and society—such as the work and roles of women, subsistence economies, the use of natural resources, harmony with the environment, the concept of community, hunger, and the cold.

We intend to offer a contemporary perspective on a bygone way of life rooted in survival and the sustainable use of natural resources, thereby prompting reflection on our own modern lifestyle as we strive for a society that is more sustainable and integrated with nature.
